Then come Thursday morning, I woke up with the exact same ache in my lower abdomen. I went along with my normal morning routine anyway~got ready, got Jack off to the sitter's house, and went into work. About 2 hours into my shift, I was hurting pretty badly, and decided I better go home and rest it off. I thought for sure it would go away in an hour or two, and that I would just go back into work. But as I layed in bed, it got increasingly worse. By the time Brock came home for his lunch break, I was rolling back and forth in pain. By 2:30pm, I had talked to my friend Krista who said that if it didn't fade away by evening time, that I really should go into the ER, because a few years ago, she had about the same thing happen, and when she went into the doctor, she found out she had Appendicitis, and they had her in surgery 30 minutes later. I am so lucky I listened to her!

I went to Instacare, and as soon as I pulled up, my tummy didn't feel nearly as bad. Dang Murphy's Law! Doesn't that always happen when you get to the doctor's office? You suddenly don't feel so bad? So I sat in the parking lot for a half hour, until I finally decided it might just be smart to get it checked out. They got me right in, and I was honestly only there for a matter of minutes before the doctor told me he was pretty sure I had Appendicitis, and sent me immediately up to the ER for a Cat Scan.

My mother in law met me at the hospital (thankfully! It would've been tough to sit out all the waiting time alone) and I filled out paperwork, got ink put up inside of me (not a pleasant experience), found out my fever had gone from 101 to 101.6, had a Cat Scan for the first time, and found out I had a "bouncing baby appendix!" You hear about people getting their appendixes removed all the time, so I know it sounds silly now, but I honestly didn't know I would have to stay the night at the hospital... I heard the doctor say something about "tomorrow," and I was like, "Wait, you think I'll have to stay the night here??," And his response was, "Well we can discharge you whenever you want, you could even leave right now, but you'll be dead in two days." Well if that ain't enough to freak you out, I don't know what is! SCARY!

So 45 minutes after my scan, I went in for surgery. Brock finally got to the hospital right before I went in, thankfully! I had the hardest time getting a hold of him at work. I was a little bit scared of surgery, because I'd never had one before. I was especially scared because Jackson wasn't there, so I didn't get to kiss him goodbye.

I got into the operating room, and it really freaked me out. I heard really softly in the background, "The Piano Man," by Billy Joel playing. I told the anesthesiologist I liked that song, so he blasted it for me :) If I was going to die, at least I would've died with some good background music! I am very thanful I didn't though!

When I woke up, I had the HARDEST time breaking off the anethesia. I tossed and turned for a good three hours. I felt like I was on some hard drugs or something. If that's how people feel on drugs, I think they're all insane. My brain was going about a million miles per minute, and my eyes felt glued shut. All I wanted to do was sleep, but I couldn't! I kept telling the nurse, "I feel so weird. I feel so weird." She kept telling me to wait it off, and in a couple of hours I would feel okay. The only thing that kept me going was to keep thinking that over and over again, "It will be gone in a couple hours...it will be gone in a couple hours." That had to be one of the worst experiences of my life. Honestly. I HATE anesthesia. It is awful.

They sent me home the next afternoon (one organ less than I had came in with.) Brock bought me a beautiful summer scarf from the hospital gift shop, and got me super bright happy daisies when he went to pick up my pain prescription. What a good hubby!

Everyone has been really helpful while I've been recovering. My mother in law came and cleaned our house before I even came home from the hospital, and my babysitter Kylee brought us over pizza for dinner. The clan from work brought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers, and my neighbors did too! Thanks you guys! You're all too sweet!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-64507752937196166902011-02-16T09:25:00.000-08:002011-02-16T09:26:40.276-08:00Jackson is 6 1/2 weeks old!

Time has flown by these past few weeks. I can't believe that in a week and a half, I'll be back to work. I'm ready to get out of the house though...I'm feeling a little bit clausterphobic! I will be sad to leave my little guy, but I'm sure I'll be so excited everyday to come home and see him.

A LOT! Brock discovered that if you tickle his little neck, and make funny noises he'll get a big grin on his face :) And usually once he starts, they just keep coming. It is about the cutest thing I've ever seen! Sometimes my eyes just water up, because he is just so gosh darn cute, and we are such lucky parents to have such a happy, healthy, beautiful child.

We are thinking that he will start crawling super early, because he is such a strong little bugger! When I hold him up on my shoulder, he is always trying to crawl up me. He pushes his little legs into my belly, and just kind of pushes off. I have to be really careful that I've got a good grip on him, because if not, he is gonna crawl right over the top of me! And when we lay him out on a blanket on the floor, he is such a wiggly worm. He is determined to roll over! He gets pretty close, but no cigar. I'm sure it'll happen before we know it though. Wow, I can't believe how big he's getting! It feels like we were in the hospital yesterday, and now he's trying to roll over!

At the doctor last week, he weighed 10 pounds 15 ounces. I'm sure he's well over 11 pounds now! He's gained over 2 pounds since he was born.Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-48931442456809893652011-02-09T17:33:00.000-08:002011-02-09T17:33:09.490-08:00Welcome Jackson! 1/1/11Well it's about time that I tell you about Jackson coming out of my belly and into this world-don't worry I'll keep the detailed bits to myself! ;)

Friday (New Year's Eve), I dropped by my girlfriend Tiffany's house. She was telling me that there are some pressure points on your feet that can help you go into labor. She said it would hurt really bad, but you all know that I was nearing desperation to get that little guy out of there! So she massaged these pressure points on my feet until I was close to crying. Then I came home, and my family had come up to visit from SL. My dad massaged the same spots for me too, just to make sure we gave it our best shot.

Then we all went to see Little Fockers (cute by the way! We got some good laughs) By the time we got home (about 10 pm), my contractions had begun. They were 10-15 mins apart and lasted for a few hours. And they were pretty painful! The Braxton Hicks contractions I'd been having felt nothing like the real thing! I went to bed about 12:30am after cheersing Martinelli's, playing Pictionary with the family, and watching the ball drop.

The pain didn't wake me until 6am surprisingly (& luckily!) Contractions were now 8 min-ish apart, and super painful. I got in a warm bath, and they got closer and closer 7 min, 6 min, and finally when they reached 5 min and were killing me (at about 10 am I think), I woke Brock up and told him he should probably hop in the shower, because we needed to go to the hospital.

We got there at 11:30am, and I was dilated to a 3, which was good news because I was at a 2 the week before. They said they needed to wait an hour to see if my dilation changed to know if they could keep me or not. I think I would've died of pain if they had sent me home! Now I know why they all labor "labor!" At 1 pm, I was at a 4 and I asked for the epidural. Can I just tell you something? I LOVE epidurals. I told the anethesiologist that he was my new best friend. He probably gets that a lot...

They broke my water (weird eperience), and then gave me the epidural, which went perfectly smooth. My doctor, and all of the other doctors were out of town for the holiday. They called mine, and he said he was sure I wouldn't have him until at least 8 or 9 pm, and that he would be back in town by then.

At about 5:50 pm, the nurse asked me if I'd like her to check and see what I was dilated to, or if I'd like to wait a little longer. I told her to go ahead and check. BABY WAS CROWNING! She's like, "This baby is coming RIGHT NOW!" I started freaking out and telling people to find my husband (he was down in the cafeteria), and my mom was calling my family and telling them to hurry their butts over.

They called my doctor, and he said, "I am at Maddox in Brigham City, I'll drive thru the canyon as fast as I can. Tell her not to push." WHAT?!? NOT PUSH?!? I can't even feel my legs, how do I know if I'm pushing or not?! Doc walks in the door at 6:06, out pops Jack at 6:16, four pushes later. Piece of cake!

Couldn't have asked for a better delivery, or a more beautiful baby. We are so blessed.

Only one minor thing-I think I broke my tailbone in delivery. Still hurts pretty bad, but I have this amazing child, so all is well.Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-82627717690587811672010-12-19T20:51:00.000-08:002010-12-19T20:51:10.457-08:00The Waiting GameWell, we've tried nearly every trick in the book (minus the castor oil, that one a little freaks me out!) We tried the spiciest Mexican food we could find, loose leaf red raspberry tea, warm bath, walking, rolling bath and forth on an exercise ball, massage, and two other things that I don't want to mention on here (lol!), but it looks like this baby is just gonna come when he's good and ready!

Our last doctor's appointment was on Wednesday, doctor guessed that Jackson weighs between 7.5 and 8 pounds! (the size of a small watermelon) I lost a pound since my last appointment, yeah didn't know that could happen, but I guess it's normal near the end of your pregnancy. Don't get me wrong though, that's great! I don't want to gain anything else! I am dilated to a two, 80% effaced, and the baby is positioned at a -1. So pretty much, we are ready to roll if I could just start having some contractions already! I have been having them spuratically, but that's about it. Oh, except on Friday I had about four an hour for a couple of hours...That was as close as they've gotten. We thought for sure that was going to be it. That they would slowly just get closer and closer together, but I went to bed, woke up, and sadly they were gone :(

Now it looks like we're just going to have to learn some patience. Maybe it will make me a better mother...Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-56188356235690064812010-11-19T12:25:00.000-08:002010-11-22T20:34:23.851-08:00Almost 35 Weeks!

Wow, we are really rockin' and rollin' now! I can't believe how much time has passed with this little baby in my belly! Only 5 1/2 more short weeks, and we will be parents, wow that is so crazy to think about! It almost doesn't feel real even though the nursery is nearly completed, and he has a million cute little things that everyone so kindly gave us at the baby showers :) You guys are the best!

Brock just got done refinishing the baby changing table, and it looks wonderful! Now I just need to complete the finishing touches, and it will be done! I am going to put denim fabric down on the three shelves, because that'll match cute with the room.

Jackson now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). And he weighs approx. 4.4 lbs (about the size of a cantaloupe!), and he is about 18 inches long. It is incredible to me that somehow he fits inside of my belly! There is a little human in there :)

It is crazy that he could be born anytime now. Babies born anytime after 34 weeks are generally healthy, and do just as well as full-term babies. I don't feel like it's going to happen anytime too soon, because I haven't felt any sort of contractions or anything (or so I think! I guess I don't know what they feel like).

Here is what's happening with me:

I have been short of breath, and had heartburn a lot lately. It's become really hard to get out of low chairs, and roll over in bed. I also feel pretty tired most of the time, so the doctor is having me take an iron supplement, which I think is helping a little bit.

I find myself waddling as I get my Christmas shopping done, ha ha! I see my reflection in the big glass doors sometimes and can't help but laugh at how funny I look.

A couple weeks ago, I was at a sushi restaurant, and they had these big pretty wooden wardrobers that were like 6x6 ft. They were pretty close to our table and as I went to sit down, I turned around quickly and my belly bonked the wardrober, and it came toppling down! SO EMBARRASSING! I turned around, and the whole section of people near our table were kind of laughing, and I looked down at my belly and said, "I just don't remember how big it is sometimes!" Then everyone laughed more. It was pretty embarrassing when it happened, but now it's kind of a funny story. That dang belly of mine!

I had a second ultrasound a little over 2 weeks ago, and everything went great! They had me do a second one, because they thought my placenta was low (eek!), but turns out I have a perfectly normal amount (yay!) So we got to see Little Jack in there again, and he is just as cute as can be! There is one picture they sent us home with, where you can see his face pretty well, and I'm just in love with his little button nose. He's gonna be so cute! I can't wait to see him!

My right side ribs have been giving me a lot of pain lately. Might be due to a pulled ligament, the baby pushing on my liver, my uterus tipping to the right, or one of Jackson's little feet stuck in between them! Or a combination of some of those things. This has probably been the hardest part of my pregnancy so far : / It's feeling so so much better now, but for about 4 days at the beginning of this week, I just thought I was going to die. Literally. No not really, but it hurt really really bad. I am hoping that it doesn't get that bad again!

A few weeks ago my friends Bobbi and Jennifer threw me my second baby shower in Murray. (Thanks girls!) It was perfect! They hung a cute clothes line across the room, with little baby clothes hanging from it :) And they had tons of delicious food: pomegranates, mini deli sandwiches, eclairs, cream soda (my fave!), and lots of vegetables. I learned how to make homemade baby wipes, and got a million wonderful presents for baby. We got a beautiful matching car seat and stroller, which we desperately needed, lots of fun clothes, a Boppy, bathtime toys, blankies, and lots of other cute things! It was really good to see all of my old girlfriends!
We got a lot of things we still needed: baby monitor, bottle sterilizer, some books, diapers, a teddy bear...And a lot of really fun stuff too: knit blanky, baby snow boots, some more shoes, scrapbook, book of baby crafts, and lots of super cute clothes! Sandy made delicious pumpkin rolls with cream cheese, and homemade spiced cider. YUM! We had it at the clubhouse in our neighborhood, which was perfect! Everyone just hung out on the couches, and chit-chatted. I think everyone had a really good time :)
The time is flying by quicker and quicker, and it's crazy to me that we only have a teeny over 2 months to go.

Jackson is bigger than a cabbage now, weighing over 3 pounds! And he is over 15 inches long.

Now I feel him kicking, squirming, and rolling around on a regular basis. I have even seen a body part or two poking out of my tummy! AMAZING! (But also very strange at the same time...) There is a human in there! Sometimes it's just unbelieveable to me that I could actually be growing a person in my belly!

I am feeling more and more uncomfortable as I get closer to my due date. Lower back pain, sore ribs, swollen feet... :( But I hear this is completely normal, so I am just patiently waiting for it all to go away! I am also having a very hard time sleeping. I can usually get to sleep after an hour or so of laying there, but then I always wake up sometime between 3-4am, and can't get back to sleep! Some days I even get up and get some stuff done around the house, hey, might as well be productive if all I'm going to do is lay there. But other times I just try and try to get back to sleep, but usually to to avail. Or if I do finally drift off, it's usually not too long before I need to be up. That would happen! I did finally catch up this weekend though, which will be good for the week to come. Friday I slept for almost 8 hours, and last night for almost 10! Woo hoo! Go me!

Times have been busy but fun! My mom threw me my first baby shower on the 16th, and it was a blast. We got everything from whale-shaped baby bathtubs, to musical projectors to hang in the crib. It just amazes me all of the fun things that are out there for babies now. Our little Jackson is going to be spoiled rotten-wait, he already is!
Jackson is kicking and kicking and kicking...maybe he'll be a kick boxer someday? ;) I am loving feeling him in there though!

I read yesterday that if I could see into my belly, Jackson now has enough hair that I could tell what color it is! I am so curious to see what our beautiful baby boy will look like! Brock and I have voted that hopefully he gets Brock's ears, because lets face it, Brock has good ears, and mine, well, we don't even want to talk about mine...And hopefully he gets my nose, because apparently that's my best feature. I remember one time when I was probably 15, and me and all my little girldfriends were out to lunch. We started having this conversation about what we liked about each others features and what we didn't like (big mistake!) I haven't been able to forget what people said about me my whole life! Of course the bad things are always easier to remember than the good (sadly!)... But I do remember one good thing, and it was just my nose. Ha ha. I used to be pretty disappointed that that was the only good feature I had back then ha ha.

Jackson now weighs about a pound and a half, and is approx. 13 1/2 inches long. Apparently he weighs as much as a rutabaga (whatever that is!) I googled it, and this is the picture that came up. Never seen one in my life!

I am feeling huger and huger! And am obviously looking that way too! Brock says that if he sees me from behind he can't even tell that I am prego, but then when I turn to the side, it's like WA-BANG! Lol.

Brock and I have been trying to stay busy, and have some fun with each other (and our friends!) before the baby gets here. Last Friday Jas & I got together and made delicious fruity dessert crepes! They were soooo good! Nothing beats Nutella, cream cheese, powdered sugar, kiwis, and strawberries! And Saturday we went to another demolition derby, but this one was in Logan, and it was way bigger than the last one we went to! It was a double date with our friends Jasmine & Bryce (who we love!)
The blow hole is natural marine geyser that shoots water over 60 feet in the air! La Bufadora is the second largest marine geyser in the world, next to the one in Oahu, Hawaii. I can't describe how excited I was laying in my bed at 6 am yesterday morning. I felt what felt like a kick, but I couldn't be sure, because I thought, "Hey, it's 6o'clock in the morning, and maybe I'm delirious...?" Ha ha. But then I was sure I felt it AGAIN. And then, to totally reassure me, he did it again last night when Brock and I were laying on our couch watching t.v. I said, "Sweetie! Sweetie! Feel!" So he put his hand on my belly, and sure enough he felt it too! I wasn't crazy after all! It was the most amazing feeling in the whole world! Now I hope he does it all the time! I love the reassurance of knowing he is safe & sound in my belly.

Jackson is now the size of a spaghetti squash, which Brock thinks is funny because he loves spaghetti squash. That is pretty big; no wonder I can feel him in there! Oh, and he weighs about 1 pound. :) That is crazy to me, because I think my twin brother and sister only weighed about 4 pounds when they were born. He even has tiny tooth buds now-Wow!

Everyone keeps giving us the most adorable baby clothes! He is going to be one stylin' baby I tell you what! This past weekend my mom couldn't resist, and gave us a new camouflage onesie that has a little fuzzy moose on it. It says, "Wild About Grandma!" So adorable! And Darla (my second mom) said she had to give us a few outfits, so that it would give her an excuse to go buy more :) She gave us the cutest little snuggie I ever saw! It's one of those footless onesie things that is so snuggly and soft. I just wanted to hug it! She also got us a camo outfit she got from Sturgis, that has a little matching visor, and a onesie that says, "I love my mom!" Jackson is going to look like his dad the second he comes into this world. He already has 3 camo outfits! One from my Brock's mom that she got at Cabela's (it's the real deal, Mossy Oak and all!), and then the two from our other moms :)

We got the crib all set up, and it looks amazing! Even better than I expected it would. The nursery is coming together nicely. Its still got a long ways to go, but I'm liking how it looks so far.Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-24850474958575509092010-08-30T08:56:00.001-07:002010-08-31T17:45:33.561-07:00Weekend in the Big S.L.This weekend was soooo much fun! Brock and I were finally able to make it down to Salt Lake to see the family (who I missed dearly!) It had been about 2 months since I'd been down, and even longer for Brock! It was a well anticipated and needed mini-trip for us!

Friday night Brock was exhausted from working a 60-hour work week (wow!), but he still drove us down there anyway (thank you honey!) We didn't end up getting there until probably 9 or so, because we wanted to eat at Maddox in Brigham City on our way, and then we got stuck in construction! Surprise surprise. When we finally got there, we visited with our family for a couple hours, and then headed off to bed. Derek and Kaylee (my twin 16-year-old brother and sister) had both got braces since the last time we saw them, and Casie (my 18-year-old sister) had started 3 new jobs (you go girl!) It was so good to see them!

My sweet Grandma & Papa Bird came to visit us Saturday morning. I had missed them so much! They brought us a tortoise they found, so that was kinda cool. We ended up giving it to my little cousin Gage. They caught us up on what they'd been doing, and we gave them all the baby updates (which was a very long list of course!)

After they left we went and visited my sweet cousin Brandy, who is recovering from Cancer. She just quit radiation and they're going to do another MRI in two months. I pray everything goes well! She is such a sweet girl. She offered to give us a bunch of her baby stuff she doesn't need anymore, which we really appreciate! We got to see her two little munchkins as well, which was really fun! They are getting bigger by the minute! Little Jazzy copied everything her big brother did, which was adorable. It made me so excited to have kids of my own, and really excited that they will always have a big brother to copy :) I always wished that I had a big brother to take care of me. Good thing I had a great dad instead!

Saturday night we had the most fun. It was actually the main reason we went down to Salt Lake. My mom and all her best friends play Bunco (a fun dice game) once a month, and this month was couple's night! They had a couple who couldn't make it, so Brock and I were their replacements. It was an absolute blast! It was at my mom's best friend Darla's (who I call "Second Mom") house. She made lasagna, and Brock and I's favorite thing ever--her all-famous queso chip dip! We eat that stuff like it's going out of style! We played the game (neither of us won sadly, but Mom did!), and everyone got tipsy (except me of course!) After we all danced around to loud music, and I fell asleep on the swinging chair in the backyard (Hey, Jackson sucks up all my energy, ok?!) Overall it was a very fun time.

Sunday we relaxed the morning away...ate yummy pancakes and read the newspaper. That afternoon we headed back over to Darla's place for another party, and more chip dip! It was her husband, Sheldon, and her son, Brody's birthdays. It was good to see everyone again.

I'm glad we got to spend so much time with all the people we care about! I wish we could do it more often!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-16663883846025582802010-08-27T14:59:00.000-07:002010-08-27T14:59:03.286-07:00Demo DerbySo my first experience at a demolition derby was a good one. I'm not sure exactly why we like to watch cars ram into each other, and I'm also not sure how safe this can be (especially considering the fact that one of the girls, yes "girls" lost her tire!), but for some reason it is exciting to watch.

It was me, Brock, and our good friend Jasmine who went. We weren't exactly sure where it was at (just knew it was somewhere around Bear Lake), so I googled it, and found out it was in Montpelier. So we drove clear out there, past Paris (I wish it was the Paris you're thinking of...), and finally get out to this hodunk town, and there it was--a bunch of beat up cars and small town folk :)

After the derby, where we enjoyed scones (yum!), fresh glazed donuts, and a little carnival, we headed up to Brock's family's cabin. Sandy (my mother-in-law) was there, and so we were telling her about the derby. Turns out, she was there! So she says, "I can't believe that number 244 (or something like that) won! I thought number 32 should've won!" And we're like, "What? Number 11 definitely won!" We had all voted on which car would win (I voted the pink hatchback ha ha ha), but Jasmine's car ending up winning, which was definitely number 11. Turns out we were at a completely different derby! How the freak does that happen?! LOL! Sandy had gone to the one in Laketown, which is way closer than driving all the way out into no-man's-land where the one we went to was. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I was going to have a girl's weekend up at one of my friend's cabins, but one by one each girl cancelled :( Since I was going to be out of town, Brock decided to go "scope" for elk, because the hunt starts in less than 2 months. So to make myself useful, this is what I did with my weekend! Enjoy! P.S. They are all photos from our honeymoon, which I am trying desperately to get caught up on.

This is the formal night they had on the cruise ship. Brock bought me that adorable dress before we left--such a sweet husband! It was kind of fun to get dressed up to the nines! They served of us fancy drinks (that the were on the captain, even better!), and of course a huge gourmet dinner as well. I swear, all we did was eat on that trip! But we just couldn't help it, the food was just soooo good!

This was on Catalina Island, where the cruise ship dropped us off. It was such a beautiful place! There were lots of cool fish; the bright orange ones were definitely our favorite. Supposedly, they are California's state fish. Really cool! While we were on there, we got to pay some extra money to get some fish food that burst out of the side of the submarine right by our window. It made it so the fish swarmed everywhere, so we got to see a lot at once. Super fun!

Woo-hoo! This means I can make it through the rest of the way, right?! Only 4 months and 6 days to go...

Last we week, we found out that Jackson is longer than a banana! That is pretty big! And I am REALLY big, lol! I swear, I feel like my belly grows an inch a day! I have to bend forward to see my toes now, I can't just look down ha ha ha.

I have been having a few minor sick days the past little while. There have been a couple of mornings where I get really dizzy, and feel like I'm either going to pass out or throw up : / Not fun! And yesterday I felt kind of nauseous for most of the day, and into the night :( Not very good for my sleep...

I have also been getting these insane leg cramps in the middle of the night. It's always in my calf, and it feels like I got shot (well, I imagine this is what getting shot might feel like...not that I ACTUALLY know.) Seriously though, it hurts like no other! I have had it happen probably 2-3 times before last night, and then while I was sleeping last night, it happened 3 times! In one night! My neighbor said that she would get them when she was pregnant, and she got them so often that she knew how to get rid of them. She said she would flex her foot really fast and hard, which would pop her ankle, and that cured it. So I tried this out last night, and it worked! But, I think because I did that and didn't let the cramp run its course, it kept happening :( So I'm not sure what's worse-a whole 5 minutes of pure torture, or one-minute spurts of torture...? All I can say is neither are very fun at all.

Also, my tailbone has been in a frenzy lately. It is really hard to get situated in a position that doesn't hurt. This is especially bad at work, because I sit for the majority of the day...

Anyway, enough of the bad, and on to the good!

I have been feeling little Jackson in my belly quite frequently now, which is really exciting! It's just kind of fluttering feelings occasionally, but I know it's him in there! It makes me have peace of mind to know that he is doing well enough to flip around and do some little tricks :) When I don't feel anything for a couple of days, I find myself getting a little worried, even though my doctor said not to. He said I will only feel him every so often until about 24 weeks, and then I should feel him a lot more (and Brock might even be able to feel him by then too!)

Jackson even has little eyebrows, and eyelids now! How crazy is that?!

If anyone knows of anyone who would be (or is) a good nanny, or someone who runs a daycare, I would really love to know about it! Obviously, close to Logan is important! I haven't quite decided what to do in this department yet...If my life were perfect, I would LOVE to stay home-I hate the thought of leaving my baby with someone I don't know, but it looks like this is just not possible right now. So at least knowing that I am leaving him in good hands would make me feel a whole lot better! Any suggestions would be wonderful!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-29653672821539446442010-08-11T20:29:00.000-07:002010-08-11T20:29:45.153-07:00Doc Appt. #3

I had my third doc appt. today, and it went perfect! Everything is going great inside me :) I thought for sure my doctor was going to say I was fat, and had gained way too much weight (ha ha), but he didn't! He said I was right on track. I measured about 21 inches, which I guess is good for almost 20 weeks along, and the baby's heartbeat was beating loud & strong.

My doctor started poking at my calves & ankles, and asked if they were swelling. I couldn't believe that he could tell! But I totally can! Since it's the middle of summer, I've only been wearing flip-flops, so I hadn't really noticed anything-until last week, I put on some real shoes (or attempted to) twice, and they were super snug! He said it's probably the heat that it making it so bad, and it probably doesn't help that there is no air conditioning at my work :( I hope it's not so bad in the winter, or I will definitely have to invest in some new footwear. The sad part is that they probably won't fit anymore after I'm not pregnant.

The end of the appointment wasn't the best part. That's where they said, "We want to take all your money." Lol. (In a lot more words). But hey, it'll all be worth it :)Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-68827298570297199492010-08-06T17:14:00.000-07:002010-08-06T16:24:43.007-07:00Baby Updates & everything else happening with us!Interesting things I'm going through: I have been craving pickles and anything potato-mashed, scalloped,fries,baked,funeral...oh funny story-I had to go buy pickles, and when I got home from the grocery store, guess what I did! Dropped the plastic bag with the whole jar of pickles in it right on my tile floor! Shattered everywhere :-( I am also losing a lot of hair. I mean I have a lot of hair as it is, so I usually lose a pretty good amount, but now its gotten so much worse! This weeek alone, I have clogged the vacuum (which my wonderful hubby fixed yesterday), and also clogged the shower! My friend said the same thing happened to her when she was pregnant, so I guess I shouldn't worry too much. I still don't want chicken. At all. Ever. For a while I wanted no meat, but now its just chicken-kind of sad really. I usually love chicken!

As for what's happening with Brock and I, we are just loving life. Tonight we are headed up to Bear Lake for Raspberry Days, which is always a good time. Heard there is going to be dancing, lots of yummy food, and of course the all famous raspberry shakes! We are staying at Brock's family's cabin, and they'll be up there too which should be fun! Right now I'm patiently waiting for Brock to get home from work, which is seeming like an ultra long time, but i'm sure that's just because I am excited.

The weeks keep flying faster for both of us. People always say the older you get the faster the time flies, and I guess this is the truth! It seems like each week is getting faster and faster. It does it even seem like it should be Friday yet!

Brock has been very busy at work and has been getting off pretty late everyday, but we can't complain, because we love the overtime! I have also still been working. We've slowed down for the summer at the roasting plant, because people don't drink quite as much coffee in the summers as they do in the winter. But that doesn't mean a cut in hours, which is good? Ha ha, just kidding (kind of) about the question mark.

I don't know if I mentioned that Brock is now working for Birchcreek Landscape Excavation, and he loves it! He is doing about the same job here as he did for the city, which he always enjoyed. I mean what boy doesn't like playng in the dirt? ;) He gets to drive big track hoes, back hoes, and a brand spankin' new Peter Built! So he is just loving every minute of it!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-49907008519490079042010-08-01T16:25:00.000-07:002010-08-01T16:25:17.753-07:0018 Weeks! Almost half-way there!

So close to half way, I can't even stand it! Wonderous things are happening to both me & the baby. This week I felt him moving around in there, probably doing some crazy back flips or something (because we all know, he is going to be Brock's little boy-a little daredevil!)

I can't feel him if I touch my belly (like on my hand), but I can definitely feel some ultra strange butterflies in there every once in a while, and so since I haven't ever had a feeling like that before, I'm assuming that's him :)

I've been feeling dizzy occasionally, which is something I'm going to have to ask the doc about, but when I googled it, I read that it's pretty normal...

Jackson is about the size of a bell pepper now, WOW! And weighs approximately 7 oz.

I keep shopping & shopping because I'm just too excited not to! This week he got some adorable bibs, one with a little elephant on it that feels all soft & fuzzy, and some mini sized shorts with aligators & turtles on them! I just cant get over how teeny everything is! Everything is so much cuter when it's miniturized! Also, his Grandma & Grandpa Maurer got him his first real camo outfit--adorable! I'm sure he will be just as fond of Cabella's as his daddy is!

We have been on a constant search for the perfect crib! This is a hard task to accomplish. I have found probably 5 or 8 that Im thinking about, and the Maurer's also offered to let us use Brock's old crib if we can't find one we're in love with. I am having the hardest time making a decision, but seriously, when am I not?? I am probably one of the most indecisive people I know--especially when it comes to the important stuff. And this is pretty much at the top of the list right now.

Any of your advice would be very well appreciated!

This Saturday, we threw a little yardsale to try to make some room in our house for Jackson. And surprisingly, it was a success! We got rid of some things we didn't need anymore, and by the end we had a little extra cash in pocket to help with the nursery. Our friends Landon & Tiffany came over and brought a few of their things as well, so that made it fun. Mostly, we just felt like we were hanging out all day, and it didn't feel like work at all! The Otter Pops probably helped! :) I got some major sun, and am a little on the red side today, but hey-it's all worth it in the end.

Brock is up tubing the Oneida River in Preston, ID today with some friends. Last year I had a little accident that included a popped tube and a bruised up Chantel, so I decided it probably wasn't the best idea to try it again while prego. I hope he's having a good time though!

I am just enjoying a relaxing Sunday, which was very well needed/wanted/deserved.

Our life is about to get bigger--with a set of little feet, little fingers, and little everything else too! We are expecting! We found out on May 7th-- oh what a happy day! Not only was is it my mom's birthday, but it was the day we got the biggest news either of us had ever had.

That Friday night we were going to head down to Draper to visit my mom, but before that I decided to take the big step, and take the little white and purple test. Brock was still at work, but I just couldn't wait any longer! I had felt like something weird was going on with me for the entire month, and I just couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. I wasn't feeling sick, but I was definitely feeling different.

And ta-da! The test had a big purple plus sign.

I had to think of a way to tell Brock the news, and fast! As soon as he got home from work, we were supposed to immediately head out to my family's. I went and bought a little box, pastel pink & blue tissue paper, and confetti and wrapped up the pregnancy test.

Belly Bump-11 Weeks

When he got home, I told him I wanted to drive to Salt Lake, which was weird, because I never drive! But he didn't think too much of it. Instead of taking us straight to Salt Lake, I made a little detour, and took us to Logan River Walk, where he proposed. We got out, and I led him to the special log that he asked me to marry him on, and gave him his present. He was so excited! After we calmed down, we got back in the car and started heading down the street.

About ten minutes later, I started thinking and came to the bizzare realization that the day he had proposed was on May 7th, my mom's 40th birthday. And today was May 7th, my mom's 41st birthday--exactly one year later! I swear I didn't plan that at all, but it is pretty awesome none the least. So it was exactly the same log by the river, on exactly the same date, at almost the same time. Two of our most life-changing days that were so similar! I love how special that made it for us.
Work, play, work, play... At least we have a combination of the two going on :) We're grateful for that!

Brock is now working for Sean Hokensen Construction. For the past month, they've been framing the new beautiful condos going up by Logan River walk. Tough work, but he's liking it.

This past Friday we went to Wendover with my parents. Brock had never been, so it was a nice change of scenery... Our favorite part definitely had to be the seafood buffet--delicious! Crab has got to be up on my list of favorites! We stayed at Montego Bay, and we were way impressed with our room! It was super nice! We lost everything we planned to spend, sadly (but expected).

When we came back from Wendover Saturday, we went to a BBQ in Salt Lake, and also went to visit my Grandma & Grandpa Bird, and Brock got to meet my Great Grandpa Harwood too :) It was a PACKED weekend!

Brock has been turkey hunting ALL month, but to no avail :( Today is the last day, and he's planning on spending the whole day up in the Wellsvilles, so we'll see what happens. I'm looking forward to making turkey dinner (hopefully!)
I can't believe how old she's getting--time flies! So Brock and I will be taking Wednesday off work, and going to her graduation in Orem. Then we'll be heading back down (again!) Friday to my family's house in Draper for her 18th birthday/graduation party.

These are a couple of her senior pictures that I took. So cute!

We've also been on the car hunt for the past couple months-UCK! That's hard work! So if anyone knows anyone who is selling a vehicle (preferably 4-wheel or all-wheel drive), please let us know! Brock got in an accident in his beloved Betty Lou :( A guy ran a stop sign, and Brock's truck pretty much ate the other guy's. The other guy's was demolished, Brock's was salvageable, but it would be a crap load to fix, so I think we're just going to invest in something else...
What's with all the dang rain lately? I usually love the rain, but this is getting to be too much. We're excited to go camping a ton this summer--so hurry up sun! Brock's birthday was on the 18th (happy 23rd!), and I got him a tent and an air mattress, so we're gonna live it up! Brock got to celebrate nearly all month long. My family took us out to dinner for my mom and his birthday's, a week or so before his birthday...Then on his birthday we went to dinner with his family, and did strawberry shortcake and presents at our house...Then we went to Wendover this weekend, which was still kind of a little add-on to his birthday fun! Lucky boy!

Randy and Sandy (Brock's parents) ran a full marathon in Ogden about a month ago. They did so awesome! I can't believe people can run that many miles without thinking twice. They totally rock! We went down and watched them finish, and then went to lunch afterwords. It was a fun time.

Well, that's about the extent of our little lives lately!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-57781913040278495592010-03-04T21:07:00.000-08:002010-03-04T21:26:32.284-08:00I got the job!

I got the job--I am still in shock I think! She interviewed me yesterday morning, and then called me last night, and made an offer! And I started this morning! It is all just kind of a blur at this point, and my day was completely overwhelming, but honestly, what new job isn't? I think that yesterday, all of the stars must've been a lined or something like that (or as Brock says, karma was finally paying off...although Im not quite sure what I did...) So the interview went well, and I left completely happy with it. I thought I had a pretty good chance, but I thought I wouldn't hear back for at least a few days, maybe even a week. I'm definitely not the most patient person in the world (as you probably already know), so even the first couple hours after the interview felt like a very very long time. I felt all anxious/excited/nervous all at the same time. But then before I even got off work for the day, she called me back, and voila! What a relief!

Then the day got even crazier. Wait, pause, did I even tell you what the job is?? This is the best part BY FAR-- I get to be the customer service manager for Caffe Ibis Coffee Roasting Plant! How perfect is that?!

Ok, so here is when it gets even weirder...so last night Brock took me out to dinner to celebrate at Cafe Sabor. I decided that tequila is for celebrating :) So we sit down, and not 5 minutes later does this couple come in wearing matching Caffe Ibis sweatshirts and sit down at the table directly next to us. And I'm like, "Hey, look they're wearing Ibis sweaters!" Then...I get to thinking about it, and I'm like, honestly, what are the chances of a couple wearing matching Ibis sweaters?? I mean, really?! So then I start thinking...what if they're the owners?? So then me being my ultra daring self went up to their table and asked them lol, and they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a small freaking world!

Oh happy day! All I need to do is get my foot in the door....................... Just gotta keep telling myself that! Cross your fingers for me!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-69081342655392018252010-03-02T10:58:00.000-08:002010-03-02T10:58:15.221-08:00On the Job HuntSo I'm on the job hunt ONCE AGAIN. :( I haven't quite lost my job yet, but there's been talk of cutting me in half (yeah, can you picture half of me walking around the office :) ?), because we've been so slow. So if any of you have any ideas for me, please give me a holler.

Today I've sent my resume out to 5 companies, and I wouldn't be surprised if I double that number by the end of the day. Goll, job hunting is worse than a full-time job!

It's such a bummer that the economy sucked right when I graduated college...I've half way considered just taking my butt back to school and going for my Masters...I mean if there is nothing for me out there right now, then why not just get some more smarts under my belt? Not really what I was hoping to do, but...

I am so sad that I can't just find the perfect job for me. I want to work with people, that's what I'm good at. And I don't really want to sell anymore--I'm completely worn out of it (unless I'm selling something I absolutely love). But you know what they say, "beggars can't be choosers," and I am definitely on the beggar end of things right now. Pretty much all I ask for is a full-time day job that pays decent. That's about all I can hope for right now.

So, wish me luck! I think I'm gonna need it!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-68515400663767546262010-02-17T18:22:00.000-08:002010-02-17T18:22:35.353-08:00Be My Valentine!Valentines was wonderful wonderful wonderful. I can not express in words what a great time we had, but here comes my attempt now.

Our weekend getaway started Saturday afternoon. Brock went ice fishing in the morning with Cody, so while he was gone it gave me a good chance to pack up all of his things, wrap his presents, and hide everything snuggly in the trunk before he got home. So then when he came back, all I had tell him was to get ready and get in the car. He had no idea we were going anywhere over night, because he didn't have a packed bag (well, as far as he knew... :) )

I drove, which is strange because I NEVER drive. But this made it so he had no idea where we were headed. We drove to Ogden, and got off an exit there, and he was like, "What in the world are we doing in Ogden?!" Ha ha ha, but then I took us up Ogden canyon a ways, so then he got really confused, because that road takes you right to Jackson Hole. And I told him the place we were going started with the letter "J." Ha. But, then I pulled in to our destination, Jackson Fork Inn, which is not in Jackson Hole, it's in a little mountainous place called Harrisville. And it was the cutest little bed & breakfast ever.

Our room was the best. Two floors, a balcony, a spiral staircase, and the most exciting part was that there was a hot tub right smack in our room! Everything was really vintage looking too, which is totally my style. LOVED IT.

When we got there, we just hung out for a while...wandered around and checked out the place, watched Seinfeld, layed on the bed for a bit... Then I remembered that he might want to wear his present to dinner, so I let him open it before we went. It was a new watch, and he loved it, which made me really happy. He's never had a watch, so I decided it was about time to invest in one. Oh, except he does have this old pocket watch from his grandpa, which is pretty awesome, but I think he probably shouldn't start using that thing until we're about 70 or so. Just another 58 years to go...

Then we got all fancied up for dinner, which was miraculously just downstairs. Yeah, the bed & breakfast had a restarant! It was really rustic looking, with a big old-time fire place, and wooden everything. And our dinner was nothing less than perfect--teriaki glazed salmon, alaskan halibut, wild rice, rye bread, and steamed vegetables. Delish! And just to put the cherry on top, we ordered a bottle of champagne and chocolate lava cake. The lava cake brought back fond memories of our honeymoon, because on the cruise ship, we ordered that every night! No wonder we each came back 8 pounds heavier!

After dinner, we went back to our room and took our half drank bottle of champagne with us. We switched more presents when we got back--Brock gave me the most comfortable pajama pants in the world, with little love words all over them, and my favorite Dove milk chocolates. And I gave him a couple of shirts I'd made for him at Creative Threads. Oh, and just to let you know, Brock had already given me roses on Friday, and bought me new snow clothes the weekend before. They were early Valentine presents :) My little sweet thing had Valentine's going all week long!

The next day was pretty laid back--ate yummy biscotti, drank coffee, took a long bath in the ginormous hot tub, watched movies...Then we headed home, which was very sad. I could just live in that place, honestly!

When we went home, we were going to head straight to the Maurer's cabin in Bear Lake to go snowmobiling (with my new cute snow clothes!), but turned out that the roads were too bad, and my little Saturn wouldn't be able to make it up there. So we ended up snowmobiling on the old family snow mobile around the fields, which was still fun, and we got in Brock's family's hot tub too. That night I made chicken parmesan for the first time, which turned out pretty well, so I was kind of proud of myself. I made spaghetti with it too, and put out candles, and decorated our room with rose petals.

Yay for Valentines Day!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1191967574907289071.post-10858104105183910412010-02-10T20:13:00.000-08:002010-02-10T20:39:38.943-08:00Well, this may not seem like a great way to start our first blog, but hey! I am sick with some sort of throat/head/sneezing/coughing/runnynose/ouchy sickness. In some parts of the world this may be considered a cold, but I consider it hell. The only perk to things like this is that if you are as lucky as me you have a wonderful husband to take care of you (thank you Brock.) Already tonight he has made me Progresso chicken noodle soup, which is WAY better than the Campbell's kind (no offense Campbell's), and brought me home chocolate chunk ice cream. My sisters warned me that ice cream, or any milk-made product is bad for a sore throat, but I ate 3 deliciously huge scoops anyway. I know I will regret this tomorrow morning when I step on the scale, but so be it.

Tonight, Brock is attempting to fix his truck. The light behind the dash has been broken on poor Betty Lou since before we met, so she is in desperate need of some TLC. He joked that I haven't given him even a minute to look at it since we met (the funny thing is that I know he's right.) I tend to suck up all of his time. But if you had a husband like mine, you would do the same.

On to happier subjects. This weekend is our first married Valentine's Day! I am so excited! I would tell you what we're doing, but it is a big fat surprise, and I wouldn't want Brock finding it out what it is. I've been planning it for well over a month now, and I am ecstatic that it's finally around the corner. Now all I've got to do is get over this dumb cold, and we'll be golden. I'd be so sad if I were still sick by the time this weekend rolls around.

I've been doing a lot of digital scrapbooking lately. I didn't discover how wonderful this was until just a couple short months ago. Why didn't anyone inform me of this miracle maker?! I attempted starting on our honeymoon pictures today, but I only got through two pages. This one isn't that great, but I figured I'd put it up anyway.

This is when we were at the airport in Salt Lake City before flying out to California. It seems like everything was better on our honeymoon--the coffee tasted better, the water tasted cleaner (except for at our stop in Ensenada, Mexico of course--there we didn't even dare to get to close to the ice cubes), the beds were softer, the sun was brighter, the bloody marys were merrier, the people were friendlier, the songs were sweeter...you get the picture. It was a very pretty picture. I think at least once a week we talk about how we wish we were back on that cruise ship. Life was so carefree. Just if we could live on one...well, wait, maybe I take that back. If we lived on a cruise ship, then our story would probably become much like that of Walle's, and we all now how that turned out. Ha.

Brock and I LOVE Walle. I mean when I say love, I really mean love. We used to always have this joke where I would say, "Walllleeeee!....., and he would say, "Evvvvaaaaaa!" (If you haven't seen the movie, then just disregard this, because it probably just sounds weird.) You know, we don't really understand why people don't like this movie. I've heard so many people say that they hate it, and I'm like, "Seriously, what is there to hate?" I mean, the old-school dancing, the robot hand-holding, the pizza plants, the cute little cockroach...It is all just so great.

Well, here it is. An end to our first blog entry. Happy blogging!Brock&Chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02465223787057555808noreply@blogger.com2
