18 Weeks! Almost half-way there!

So close to half way, I can't even stand it!  Wonderous things are happening to both me & the baby.  This week I felt him moving around in there, probably doing some crazy back flips or something (because we all know, he is going to be Brock's little boy-a little daredevil!)

I can't feel him if I touch my belly (like on my hand), but I can definitely feel some ultra strange butterflies in there every once in a while, and so since I haven't ever had a feeling like that before, I'm assuming that's him :)

I've been feeling dizzy occasionally, which is something I'm going to have to ask the doc about, but when I googled it, I read that it's pretty normal...

Jackson is about the size of a bell pepper now, WOW! And weighs approximately 7 oz.

I keep shopping & shopping because I'm just too excited not to!  This week he got some adorable bibs, one with a little elephant on it that feels all soft & fuzzy, and some mini sized shorts with aligators & turtles on them!  I just cant get over how teeny everything is!  Everything is so much cuter when it's miniturized!  Also, his Grandma & Grandpa Maurer got him his first real camo outfit--adorable!  I'm sure he will be just as fond of Cabella's as his daddy is!

We have been on a constant search for the perfect crib! This is a hard task to accomplish.  I have found probably 5 or 8 that Im thinking about, and the Maurer's also offered to let us use Brock's old crib if we can't find one we're in love with.  I am having the hardest time making a decision, but seriously, when am I not??  I am probably one of the most indecisive people I know--especially when it comes to the important stuff.  And this is pretty much at the top of the list right now.

Here are a few pictures of ones I'm considering...tell me what you think!
So this photo is really small, sorry I couldn't find a bigger one.  But
it is pretty cherry wood, and I really love the solid sides.
The drawer underneath is pretty awesome, and would be good storage space for extra sheets or blankets.
I also like the stylized back, and how it's higher than the front.

The back is cute, and the simple style is classic and pretty.

Obviously Jackson's room isn't going to be pink, so just
ignore that part haha, but the crib itself is cute.
This one is beautiful!  Love the back!  It has a little higher price tag than the others, but it
might be worth it...?  But would this be good for our next child, even if it was a girl?

Any of your advice would be very well appreciated!

This Saturday, we threw a little yardsale to try to make some room in our house for Jackson.  And surprisingly, it was a success!  We got rid of some things we didn't need anymore, and by the end we had a little extra cash in pocket to help with the nursery.  Our friends Landon & Tiffany came over and brought a few of their things as well, so that made it fun.  Mostly, we just felt like we were hanging out all day, and it didn't feel like work at all!  The Otter Pops probably helped!  :)  I got some major sun, and am a little on the red side today, but hey-it's all worth it in the end.

Brock is up tubing the Oneida River in Preston, ID today with some friends.  Last year I had a little accident that included a popped tube and a bruised up Chantel, so I decided it probably wasn't the best idea to try it again while prego.  I hope he's having a good time though!

I am just enjoying a relaxing Sunday, which was very well needed/wanted/deserved.

17 Weeks

Tunip

Our baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — his lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Our baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and he's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. He can move his joints, and his sweat glands are starting to develop.

He is getting bigger & bigger, which my be the reason my tummy won't stop growing! LOL.  Everyone keeps saying that's what's supposed to happen--surprise, surprise.  I will have to post another baby bump picture sometime this week.

Brock touched my belly tonight and couldn't believe how hard it is getting-I can't either!  It's getting to be a pretty solid bump now.

I've been having really strange dreams lately, which I hear is normal for pregnant women.  Last night I had a crazy dream that my Aunt Sandy was pregnant and going into labor.  And then I left the hospital to go to a hair appointment, and on the way there I got in a car accident.  What the?!

So that's what's going on with the baby and me this week.  New updates soon!

Big New Life!

Kissing the Baby!
Our life is about to get bigger--with a set of little feet, little fingers, and little everything else too!  We are expecting!  We found out on May 7th-- oh what a happy day!  Not only was is it my mom's birthday, but it was the day we got the biggest news either of us had ever had.

That Friday night we were going to head down to Draper to visit my mom, but before that I decided to take the big step, and take the little white and purple test.  Brock was still at work, but I just couldn't wait any longer!  I had felt like something weird was going on with me for the entire month, and I just couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.  I wasn't feeling sick, but I was definitely feeling different.

And ta-da! The test had a big purple plus sign.

I had to think of a way to tell Brock the news, and fast!  As soon as he got home from work, we were supposed to immediately head out to my family's.  I went and bought a little box, pastel pink & blue tissue paper, and confetti and wrapped up the pregnancy test.

When he got home, I told him I wanted to drive to Salt Lake, which was weird, because I never drive!  But he didn't think too much of it.  Instead of taking us straight to Salt Lake, I made a little detour, and took us to Logan River Walk, where he proposed.  We got out, and I led him to the special log that he asked me to marry him on, and gave him his present.  He was so excited!  After we calmed down, we got back in the car and started heading down the street.

About ten minutes later, I started thinking and came to the bizzare realization that the day he had proposed was on May 7th, my mom's 40th birthday.  And today was May 7th, my mom's 41st birthday--exactly one year later! I swear I didn't plan that at all, but it is pretty awesome none the least.  So it was exactly the same log by the river, on exactly the same date, at almost the same time.  Two of our most life-changing days that were so similar!  I love how special that made it for us.

What's been happening in our little life...

BUSY BUSY BUSY.  Work, play, work, play... At least we have a combination of the two going on :)  We're grateful for that!

Brock is now working for Sean Hokensen Construction.  For the past month, they've been framing the new beautiful condos going up by Logan River walk.  Tough work, but he's liking it.

This past Friday we went to Wendover with my parents.  Brock had never been, so it was a nice change of scenery...  Our favorite part definitely had to be the seafood buffet--delicious!  Crab has got to be up on my list of favorites!  We stayed at Montego Bay, and we were way impressed with our room!  It was super nice!  We lost everything we planned to spend, sadly (but expected).

When we came back from Wendover Saturday, we went to a BBQ in Salt Lake, and also went to visit my Grandma & Grandpa Bird, and Brock got to meet my Great Grandpa Harwood too :)  It was a PACKED weekend!

Brock has been turkey hunting ALL month, but to no avail :(  Today is the last day, and he's planning on spending the whole day up in the Wellsvilles, so we'll see what happens.  I'm looking forward to making turkey dinner (hopefully!)

My little sister Casie graduates from high school on Wednesday, holy freak!  I can't believe how old she's getting--time flies!  So Brock and I will be taking Wednesday off work, and going to her graduation in Orem.  Then we'll be heading back down (again!) Friday to my family's house in Draper for her 18th birthday/graduation party.

These are a couple of her senior pictures that I took.  So cute!

We've also been on the car hunt for the past couple months-UCK!  That's hard work!  So if anyone knows anyone who is selling a vehicle (preferably 4-wheel or all-wheel drive), please let us know!  Brock got in an accident in his beloved Betty Lou :(  A guy ran a stop sign, and Brock's truck pretty much ate the other guy's.  The other guy's was demolished, Brock's was salvageable, but it would be a crap load to fix, so I think we're just going to invest in something else...

We are both very ready for warm weather!  What's with all the dang rain lately?  I usually love the rain, but this is getting to be too much.  We're excited to go camping a ton this summer--so hurry up sun!  Brock's birthday was on the 18th (happy 23rd!), and I got him a tent and an air mattress, so we're gonna live it up!  Brock got to celebrate nearly all month long.  My family took us out to dinner for my mom and his birthday's, a week or so before his birthday...Then on his birthday we went to dinner with his family, and did strawberry shortcake and presents at our house...Then we went to Wendover this weekend, which was still kind of a little add-on to his birthday fun!  Lucky boy!

Randy and Sandy (Brock's parents) ran a full marathon in Ogden about a month ago.  They did so awesome!  I can't believe people can run that many miles without thinking twice.  They totally rock!  We went down and watched them finish, and then went to lunch afterwords.  It was a fun time.

Well, that's about the extent of our little lives lately!

I got the job!

I got the job--I am still in shock I think!  She interviewed me yesterday morning, and then called me last night, and made an offer!  And I started this morning!  It is all just kind of a blur at this point, and my day was completely overwhelming, but honestly, what new job isn't?  I think that yesterday, all of the stars must've been a lined or something like that (or as Brock says, karma was finally paying off...although Im not quite sure what I did...)  So the interview went well, and I left completely happy with it.  I thought I had a pretty good chance, but I thought I wouldn't hear back for at least a few days, maybe even a week.   I'm definitely not the most patient person in the world (as you probably already know), so even the first couple hours after the interview felt like a very very long time.  I felt all anxious/excited/nervous all at the same time.  But then before I even got off work for the day, she called me back, and voila!  What a relief!

Then the day got even crazier.  Wait, pause, did I even tell you what the job is?? This is the best part BY FAR-- I get to be the customer service manager for Caffe Ibis Coffee Roasting Plant!  How perfect is that?!

Ok, so here is when it gets even weirder...so last night Brock took me out to dinner to celebrate at Cafe Sabor.  I decided that tequila is for celebrating :)  So we sit down, and not 5 minutes later does this couple come in wearing matching Caffe Ibis sweatshirts and sit down at the table directly next to us.  And I'm like, "Hey, look they're wearing Ibis sweaters!"  Then...I get to thinking about it, and I'm like, honestly, what are the chances of a couple wearing matching Ibis sweaters?? I mean, really?!  So then I start thinking...what if they're the owners??  So then me being my ultra daring self went up to their table and asked them lol, and they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What a small freaking world!

Stars definitely alined + good karma= very very good day

INTERVIEW!

So just when I was feeling down about the whole job craziness, I got a call and I have an interview at 8 am tomorrow!  Oh happy day!  All I need to do is get my foot in the door....................... Just gotta keep telling myself that!  Cross your fingers for me!

On the Job Hunt

So I'm on the job hunt ONCE AGAIN.  :(  I haven't quite lost my job yet, but there's been talk of cutting me in half (yeah, can you picture half of me walking around the office :) ?), because we've been so slow.  So if any of you have any ideas for me, please give me a holler.

Today I've sent my resume out to 5 companies, and I wouldn't be surprised if I double that number by the end of the day.  Goll, job hunting is worse than a full-time job!

It's such a bummer that the economy sucked right when I graduated college...I've half way considered just taking my butt back to school and going for my Masters...I mean if there is nothing for me out there right now, then why not just get some more smarts under my belt?  Not really what I was hoping to do, but...

I am so sad that I can't just find the perfect job for me.  I want to work with people, that's what I'm good at. And I don't really want to sell anymore--I'm completely worn out of it (unless I'm selling something I absolutely love).  But you know what they say, "beggars can't be choosers," and I am definitely on the beggar end of things right now.  Pretty much all I ask for is a full-time day job that pays decent.  That's about all I can hope for right now.

So, wish me luck!  I think I'm gonna need it!
